Fake Social Network Profiles: A New Identity Theft Threat This Year

There is a new form of identity theft emerging in 2009. People who do not have profiles at social network sites could have their online identities stolen. An annual threat report by Aladdin, an online security firm, indicates that if you do not have profiles at certain social networks you could be at risk. Someone else could easily aggregate information about you from other places online and create a fake, yet believable social profile and use it to ruin your social or professional reputation online.
